Today I am taking a bit of an enforced vacation. I find myself at home with this lovely girl...
She woke up this morning with some kind of stomach bug and has proceeded to throw up every hour since. Right now she has gone exactly ninety minutes without vomiting so she has gotten a frosty in reward. We don't frequent fast food places at all except for sick kiddos. When there is a sicko at our house they get a frosty from Wendy's to soothe them. It's been so long since I've been at a drive through window that I drove off without my change! Granted it was only 13 cents but still. I was almost all the way home before it dawned on me that you are supposed to stick around to get your change after you get your food. She's really fine but the vomiting is keeping us close to home. Hopefully the frosty will stay down. I'd really like to do a bit of grocery shopping since we are out of most everything but I'm a little nervous about having her be too far from a receptacle.
But I've gotten a lot done this morning. I've folded four loads of laundry and started a couple more. I've inventoried the contents of the big and little freezers and the pantry to make a good shopping list. I've baked bread (well - it's not done yet but it's in the process). And I've blogged. That last one is a real accomplishment lately. Some of you must have thought I'd dropped off the face of the earth. I just haven't had the time this last week or so. The boys sweater is well on its way to being a finished object. I've started and finished the second sleeve since last I posted and joined them to the body and am working my way up the yoke. I don't like how the raglan decreases are looking. The stitch definition in this yarn is a little too good and they stand out. That would be nice if I wanted them to stand out but I really don't - at least not quite this much. I'm hoping a good blocking will make them look a bit smoother.
A real high note lately is that I received my second secret pal package in the mail yesterday. After opening the package I found this lovely hand knit bag with all sorts of goodies inside.
The best part of all I didn't include in the above pictures because they instantly leaped onto my feet. Hand knit socks.... I sincerely love getting hand knit socks especially since I know the work that goes into them. Socks are truly a special thing. All that work only to be walked on. I love the yarn she used and will have to find out what it is. It seems like a roughly sport/light worsted weight marled yarn. They remind me of the ragg socks you get a LL Bean - great comfy socks. And best of all they fit perfectly. I don't always get my socks to fit me perfectly but she managed first try. I can't wait to find out who she is.
Thank you secret pal!!!
The sock yarn is Jo Sharp DK Wool. It's a discontinued color but the yarn makes fabulous socks as you've very well stated. I'm so excited that you love the socks! They were fun to knit and I can't remember what website I found that gives you the perfect measurements for people's feet. When I find it I'll send it to you. The socks were knit on size 4 needles to make them wear well. I have several pairs of socks out of the same yarn and they are great boot and cold weather socks too.
The tea is from a tea shop from my house. It's the perfect way to sample new teas and to send samples to friends. If you would like more of one particular tea just let me know.
And the bag is knit from leftover Rowan DK Tweed. It's the perfect way to use up yarn that you have and to make a cute little gift bag. :)

Poor kiddo. There is nothing worse than that kind of being sick.
Awesome gifts from your secret pal. Socks! Tazo tea! Lucky you. :)
